Trades

Please bear in mind we cannot accept all trades offered if it is not something we don't need. However, please do not restrict yourselves to what items you offer as all things will be considered, no matter how strange. We offer these trade items moreso for younger purchasers also who want a particular animal yet don't have all or any the money and can save up with some trades and cash.

Generally we will accept the following items at any time. But please note we will not always need them and may from time to time refuse, so please ask first.

- Food scraps for our other pets and for our garden. We will give customers a $1 credit per plastic bag of food traded. The size of the plastic bag is those used by fruit and veg stores for produce. Scraps must be ok with no rotten, wet parts or mould. Fruit, herbs and veg is preferred, but we will take out of date packaged goods from the kitchen/pantry cupboard also, like biscuits, crackers and other things no longer wanted or good for human consumption. Leftovers will also be accepted, but no more than a day old or a few hours out of the fridge or freezer. With food scraps from fruit and veg stores or places like Coles, best to go early in the morning and get as much as possible before everyone else does, we have been caught out alot later in the day when there is nothing to get! Please do not ask at Woolworths, for legal reasons they will not give out anything.

- Cardboard rolls, long ones, like the ones used as bases for bag rolls from fruit and veg stores/departments. We won't take roles that are soiled or show signs of being wet and have been dried out. We will give 5c per roll, best if you make some sort of an arrangement with your local fruit and veg store to obtain a bag or so forth of rolls. We will occaisionally take the sam,ll tiolet rolls for use with our hatchies, but this is extremely llimited due to the fact we have our own supply.

- Plastic products. From time to time we require these and sanitise them before making hides out of them. While we do prefer square ice cream tubs (as the 3-5L varieties can be used as hides or water bowls for our larger snakes) and black plastic meat trays (especially the $7 sausage deal from coles that gives 22 sausages, these trays are great for hides for smaller animals when cut in two), we will also take plastic meat trays to use as food trays for our other pets, and some other old tupperware or clear plastic containers for waterbowls etc. 5c offered for each item. non clear, coloured items are preferred.

- Newspapers, please note we will not always take papers though as we have our own supply. Preferrably the Daily telegraph or similar size as we use these for cage lining. Please do not collect from bins, trains and other public places where you cannot guarantee its cleanliness. Collect them from home after your family, friends or neighbors are done with them and keep them clean and free of dust. Also do not take them from people whom you know are sick or have been sick recently as we do not want to expose our animals to anything that the papers may have absorbed. We will offer 10c for each full paper you can find.

- Garden Pots. All sizes will be considered, yet we will not accept any cracked, broken or chipped items. As we also run a gardening section as part of this business, items need to be in fairly good condition to be resold/reused. Also make sure to give them a bit of a clean if they have cobwebs on them, we don't want to end up with any new pet spiders, we have enough of those already. 5c for each pot irregardless of size. The best places to try and obtain those would be recyclable pot areas at garden stores like Tim's Garden Centra in Campbelltown and Flower Power in Mount Annan and various other locations.

- Used reptile keeping gear and cages. At present this is space limited so we have nowhere to put anything very large right now. But for future reference we will take in all items that are able to be reused. Items must be in working order and will be tested. Cages must be complete with no cracks, chips, missing parts or disfunctions. All items will be cleaned with F10 products before resale. Please note that we will only offer 25-50% of the items value, so if you want the same you paid for it, try the classifieds.

- Wood. We will take bundles of burnable wood as trade. Duue to the fact we have a supply at $25 a tonne, we cannot offer you much. This is added as an alternative for kids of saving and using trades for purchasing an animal so they can go around the neighbourhood and collect sticks. We will only offer 50c a kilo.

- Trade your time, where permissable. This is more or less for the youngsters if they cannot afford to pay with money for an animal they are after, or for adults if they are willing. If you can supply your time for an hour or two, we can come to some arrangement as to what may need doing around the house, but generally its yard work. Food and drink provided where possible as will be first aid and amenities if needed. Please note that if you are sick or have been recently, this will not be considered as an option for you. Under 18s will need discussion/permission slip from parents.
